Parks Carey Knox was born in Davidson, N.C. on Aug. 16, 1919, to the late Adrian Carson Knox and Connie Dunn Knox. He was predeceased by his first wife Mary Frances Harris Knox, the mother of his three children. He was also predeceased by his sister Merle Washam and brothers Adrian Vernon Knox and Hugh Jackson Knox. He leaves behind his wife, Dr. Martha Elizabeth (Beth) Singletary Knox, three children Michael Harris Knox, Karen Knox Bush and husband Robert Bush, and Stephen Carey Knox and wife, Denise Flohn Knox, eight grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren, three sisters Blanche Emily Parker, Clara Byrum and Connie Collins. P.C. joined the Air Force and served his country proudly in World War II and in the Korean War as a pilot, where he received The Air Medal and The Distinguished Flying Cross. He flew 100 missions in Korea before returning to North Carolina. He was an energetic, resourceful person who was always on top of any situation. He was a "Jack of all trades" who used his abilities to help family, friends, neighbors or anyone who needed him. After his tours of duty in the Air Force, he worked for G.E./Hotpoint as a salesman and rapidly rose to the rank of Zone Manager, retiring in 1977. Since his marriage to Beth in 1977, he had resided in San Marcos. He was active in real estate as a broker, serving as president of the San Marcos Area Board of Realtors. He also was a Tail Twister in the Lions Club, a director of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce as well as serving as an Ambassador for the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce for several years. He was a member of the First Christian Church, where he also served on the church board. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services were held Monday, June 16 in the Raymer Funeral Home Chapel in Huntersville, N.C., with the Reverend Robert L. Hunter officiating. Burial was in Bethel Church Cemetery, Cornelius, N.C. The family received relatives and friends prior to the service. A memorial service will also be held at the First Christian Church in San Marcos on Sunday, June 22 at 2 p.m. The Reverend David Green will officiate. A reception will follow the service. Memorials may be sent to the First Christian Church, 3105 Ranch Road 12, San Marcos, Tx. 78666, the American Cancer Society, or the organization of your choice.
