Jesse L. Cavender, 88, passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 18, 2008.
He was born on Nov. 22, 1919. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Iva (Chancey) Cavender; brother, Kenneth Cavender; and stepmother, Dolly Cavender.
Jesse is survived by his wife of 68 years, Louise (Douglas) Cavender; and two sons, Charles and wife Carol Cavender and Darrell and wife Shirley Cavender. He has four grandchildren, Jeff and wife Tara Cavender, Todd and wife Michelle Cavender, Tonya and husband David Reed and Amy and husband Chris Buchanan. He has six great-grandchildren, Tyler Cavender, Jenny and Jesse Buchanan, Kody and Kyle Cavender and Blake Reed.
Jesse was a veteran of World War II and served in a tank division in Germany. He was a member of the Harrisburg Masonic Lodge for 55 years. He loved to hunt and fish.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Burial will follow in Lindale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg with Masonic rites at 7 p.m.



The family requests no flowers, memorial contributions be made to the New Castle Baptist Church and envelopes will be available
