Born in Wilkinson County, he was the son of the late C.E and Berta Lyles. He was predeceased by his wives, Francis Fordham Lyles, Mamie Sauls Lyles, and Mattie Griffin Lyles and by a stepson, Wayne Grimsley. He was a retired supervisor from Georgia Kaolin in Dry Branch, and a World War II veteran serving in the Navy. He also was member of the Antioch Baptist Church, Dry Branch, Ga.
He is survived by his son, James E. Lyles (Catherine) of Macon; Step-children, Sandra Ethridge(Robert) of Lawrenceville, Ga; Dennis W. Johnson(Jeanette) and Olan Johnson (Cheryl), both of Juliette, Ga. Thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great Grandchildren. Brother, Charles Albert Lyles (Nonie) of Eastman, Ga. Several nieces and nephews.
