I am beginning to think that the Wade Holmes Foster that you mention as being your relative may be the same man. There are stories in the family of him traveling in New Mexico and Mexico with two Uncles when he first came west. My Aunt Emma, who is one of the younger children of my grandfather tells that when her father was born in West Virginia, his father wanted him named Wade Hampton after the general. His mother wanted him named Wade Holmes, after her family. They compromised and
named him Wade H. and said he could decide which middle name to use.
His signature on any papers I ever saw was always Wade H. Foster.

Good Luck,

Wade Foster
