Daughter of the late Stephen Henry Craft and Georgia Ann Galloway Craft, she was a graduated of Elon College with a degree in education. She taught at numerous schools in various towns, Red Oak, Durham, Rockingham, Roanoke Rapids, Henderson and Farmville. She retired after 30 years of teaching white at Sam Bundy Elementary School in Farmville. She was preceded in death by her husband, The Rev. M. Dewey Tyson, who served with the United Methodist Conference for over 30 years. She was a member of Saint James United Methodist Church. She was survived by her son, The Rev. Gene Tyson; daughters, Cheryl Lynn Tyson and Deborah Anne Tyson; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters, Jane Bergman, Lucinda Perry Marley and Lexine Jordan; and an extended family of relatives and friends.
