Born in Cecil County, Maryland, son of Moses Bradford and
Phebe George Bradford.

Education: Graduated from Delaware College in 1839
Read law to enter the bar in 1842.

Professional Career: He was a deputy state Attorney General, Dover, Delaware 1841-1850
City solicitor for Wilmington, Delaware
Representative Delaware House of Representatives 1849-50
Private practice in Wilmington 1851-1861
U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware, 1861-1866.

On December 11, 1871 Edward was nominated by Pres.Ulysses S Grant to a seat on the United States District Court for the District of Delaware which had been vacated by Willard Hall. Confirmed the next day by the U.S. Senate, Edward received his commission. He served on the court until his death, in Wilmington, Delaware in 1884.

He married first, Mary Alicia Heyward by which they had three children: son, James Heyward Bradford 1843, Mary Cornelia Bradford 1846, and Edward Green Bradford, jr. 1848.
Second, he married Elizabeth Roberts Canby.
