CARR, JR., LELAND W.
Age 69, died January 16, 1997 of natural causes accelerated by diabetes. Born April 25, 1927 in Lansing, Mr. Carr was a Law School Graduate of the University of Michigan who practiced in Lansing all his professional life. He was a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers; a founder of the National Conference of College and University Attorneys; a member of the American Bar Association; the State Bar of Michigan; The American Judicature Society; The Ingham County Bar Association; and many other organizations. Mr. Carr served as legal counsel at Michigan State University for many years. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Infantry in the European Theater Operations. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Dorothy (1988) and sister, Dorothy Hoevener. Surviving are 2 daughters, Dr. Mary Carr and Charlotte Carr Lake and her husband Ron; 1 son, Dr. Leland W. Carr III and his wife, Cynthia; 5 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Dr. Ruth (John) Carney and Clarice Rosa. Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 20, 2 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, with the Rev. John Folkers, Associate Pastor of Peoples Church, officiating. The eulogy will be given by Cassius F. Street Jr. Friends may call at the Chapel beginning Sunday, 2 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Diabetes Association, 950 28th St., S.E., Bldg. E., Grand Rapids, 49508-1326 in memory of Mr. Carr.
