He was born May 6, 1913, in rural Hoopeston, the son of Sam and Florence Meadows Brewington. He married Erma L. McCreary Feb. 25, 1936, in Hoopeston. She preceded him Jan. 8, 1998. Survivors include: three daughters, Elizabeth "Betty" and Charles Montgomery of Oakwood, Janice and Ronald Lane of Danville and Barbara and Richard DeThorne of Hawthorne Woods, Ill.; two sisters, Leah Rutherford of Ambia, Ind., and Esther Beggs of Danville. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harvey and Lloyd Brewington, and one sister, Hazel Renfro; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Cissna Park United Methodist Church. He owned the Creamery and Feed Store in Rankin. He was a member of Hoopeston Star Masonic Lodge, was a 32nd Degree Mason, sang in the choir at the Rankin Methodist and Wellington Methodist Churches and the consistory choir. He farmed in the East Lynn, Hoopeston, Rossville and Wellington areas. He was a bus driver for the Rankin School District and retired from Hicksgas and Rocket Supply.
