He was born to Wesley Hubert and Gerthie Mae Laney. He is preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Sara B. Laney, his infant daughter, Julie and his parents. He is survived by daughter, Teresa "Terry" L. Witte; son, Jack Laney, Jr. and wife Penny; grandchildren, Jennifer and Steven Witte and Juliet and Luke Laney; sister, Wilma Jean Rogers and husband James; and 3 brothers, Dewey Wesley Laney and wife Ruth, Billy Ray Laney and wife Janice, and J.T and wife Christine, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and many friends. Jack was a superior athlete, lettering in 4 different sports at Missouri City High School where he graduated in 1950. He was also a "scratch" golfer, winning many different amateur golf tournaments around the Houston Area, highlighted by his win in the 1974 Houston Area Golf Association (HAGA) Championship. After a 4 year enlistment in the United States Air Force, Jack was a salesman for Zuber Tire Company & Bruning, Inc. for over 30 years. At Bruning, he led his division in sales for a great portion of those years. There was never a better man created than Jack Laney and he will be deeply missed by all who had the honor to know him.
