SOUTH BEND - Audry Faye Annis, 88, died on June 16, 2008, at 12:45 p.m. in Hospice House, South Bend. She was born on May 11, 1920, in Park City, Montana, to Edna and Thad Whitinger. She graduated from Riley High School in 1938 and was married to Alvin Glenn Magnuson in 1941. He passed away in 1966.

She and Louis Annis Jr. were married in 1972, and he survives. She is also survived by daughters, Marsha Gordon and Debbie (George) Tezich, and son, Jim (Chris) Magnuson; sons-in-law, Alan Gordon and John Hipskind.

Also surviving are stepdaughters, Kathy Rodgers and Lynn (Burnett) Howard; stepsons, Lon (Barbara) Annis and Steven Annis; 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, with the 25th great-grandchild expected in August 2008.

Audry worked for Defense Contract Administrative Services as quality assurance inspector. She retired after more than 20 years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, was an avid bridge player for more than 70 years, sang in "Mother's Choir," and after her retirement she became an accomplished artist creating pastel portraits and watercolor paintings. Audry and Lou were happily married for nearly 36 years, having met in Parents Without Partners. They were truly partners in life. They enjoyed many years of working and traveling together throughout most of the United States. Audry loved to dance, loved her friends, children and grandchildren. She also loved her pets, and especially her "Kitty." She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John, Raymond and Wilbur Whitinger; and her daughter, LeAnne Hipskind.
