Velma Colean Fowler, 72, of Girard, Kansas, died at 12:04 A.M., Tuesday, June 14, 2008 in the Girard Medical Center in Girard, Kansas.
She was born June 4, 1936 in Cato, Kansas, a daughter of Tom and Etta (Russell) Noe.
She married Donald E. Fowler on April 4, 1952 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2008.
She worked at Pittsburg Pottery in Pittsburg and later at Phillips Industries in Halstead, Kansas. She was a homemaker and later moved with her husband to Gallup, New Mexico. They retired to Grove, Oklahoma in 1992, moved to Mesa, Arizona in 2001 and to Girard in 2007.
She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting, bowling, and fishing.
Survivors are daughters Connie Stevens and husband, Chuck, of Cheyenne, WY, and Cheryl Ballou and husband, Paul, of Fort Scott, KS; sons are Carl Fowler and wife, Sharon, of Girard, KS, and J.D. Fowler and wife, Ressa, of Girard, KS; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ronda Fowler; a great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Ballou; a brother, James Noe; and her sisters Pauline Kennedy and Florene Jones.
Memorial services will be at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard, Kansas, with Rev. Ken Sommerfeldt officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery near Pittsburg, Kansas.
