Mona Rae Batton was born Oct. 13, 1928, in Douglas, Wyoming, the daughter of J. Frank and Jessie (McCartney) Batton, Sr. She was reared and educated in Douglas, graduating from Douglas High School in 1947.

She was married to Merle Dunham on March 10, 1953, in Cheyenne. They lived on a ranch in the Buffalo area working for the Moores. In 1963 they moved to Glenrock where they owned and operated the Tabor Hotel. They moved to Douglas where they managed the Lone Tree Village Trailer Park. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, bowling, her family, and the mountain cabin.

Mrs. Dunham, 70, died unexpectedly Nov. 14, 1998, at the Dunham mountain cabin near Esterbrook.

Mona was survived by her husband, Merle of Douglas; three children, Dixie Miller of Worden, Mont., Peyton Lee Dunham of Eagle River, Alaska, and Nancy Johnson of Glenrock; one sister, Elva Wilson of Medford, Ore.; one brother, Frank Batton of Douglas; five grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.

Funeral: Converse Funeral Chapel in Douglas with the Rev. Marion Canterbury of Christ Episcopal Church officiating.
