JOHN W. PONDER
John Whatley Ponder, 61, of Route 1, Yantis, died Wednesday at 6 p. m. at Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
The son of Frank and Nobie Whatley Ponder was born on Sept. 15, 1912, at Reilly Springs. He was a retired pipeline construction company inspector and was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include three sons, Billy Ponder and John Paul Ponder, both of Fort Worth, and Larry Bob Ponder of Yantis; three brothers, Fred Ponder of Sherley, Duval Ponder of Reilly Springs, and Robert Ponder of Commerce; a sister, Mrs. Carl Starrett of Sulphur Springs; and 10 grand- children.
He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Dan Ponder, in 1973. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p. m. Friday at the Tapp Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Restlawn memorial Park.


NOTE: Survivors should have included a fourth son, Richard Whatley Ponder, the son of John and Maxine (Murphy) Ponder.
