Candis Arminta Smith was born in Jackson Co., IN, the daughter of Allen and Susanna Miller Smith. She spelled her name a variety of ways and I have found no two records that agree. She moved with her family to Warren Co., IL as a child where her father died. She married Norman Reed in Peoria Co., IL and they moved to Washington Twp., Salina Co., KS in the 1870s where they were farmers. She was my great grandmother. They raised a large family and after her husband, Norman Reed's death, she married George Parkin-b. England and moved to Lacey, Kingfisher Co., Oklahoma where she died.
