Virginia B. "Puffy" Puffer, 97, Ogdensburg, died Tuesday at United Helpers Nursing Home.

Mrs. Puffer was a licensed histologist at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital, now Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, until retiring in the early 1970s.

Born Feb. 2, 1910, in White Plains, she was the daughter of Harry and Anna Hoffman Blanchard.

She married Lloyd L. Puffer on Feb. 14, 1945, at the Nazarene Church in Ogdensburg. He died Nov. 1, 1998.

Mrs. Puffer was a member and Sunday school teacher at the Nazarene and Wesleyan churches in Ogdensburg. She enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, watching the Golf Channel and being outdoors in nature.

Surviving are her friends and caregivers, Thomas and Lorraine Getman, Canton, and several nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, Harry and Harvey Blanchard, died before her.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Allen-Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Getman and the Rev. Gloria M. Strong, pastor of Ogdensburg Wesleyan Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oldsville Cemetery, Macomb, later this spring.
