Bertha Ann Ruth Hicks, 94, of Greystone Road,
Greeneville, TN passed away Thursday, March
06, 2014, at her home.

Mrs. Hicks was a homemaker and mother of
nine children.

She was the oldest member of The Sanctuary
(UPCI) where she attended as long as her
health permitted. Mrs. Hicks loved the Lord
Jesus, her family and her church. She had
such a sweet demeanor, a ready smile that
would light up her face when she saw family
or friends, a cheerful laugh that could only
be equaled by an angelic choir and the heart
of a servant that was always ready to help
anyone in need.

Born April 20, 1919, in Kingsport, TN, she
was a daughter of the late Samuel D. and
Addie Lambert Ruth.

She married the love of her life, Charles L.
Hicks, April 27, 1940. They were married for
59 years.

Mrs. Hicks was predeceased by her husband,
two sons, Terry Darrell and William Larry
Hicks, two daughters, Patsy Hicks Smith and
Carol June Hicks three grandchildren, three
sisters, and four brothers.

Survivors include three sons and their wives,
Charles (Roma Sharee) of Greeneville, TN,
Gary (Linda) of Miramar, FL, Jerry (Virginia)
of McClellanville, SC; two daughters, Barbara
Hughes and Sandra (J.W.) Spencer, both of
Greeneville; a daughter-in-law, Janet Hicks
of Charleston, SC; a son-in-law, Habron
Smith of Greenville, SC; ten grandchildren,
Larry (Kelly) and Wayne (Penny) Hicks of
Greeneville, TN Barbie (David) Chinnis and
Chip (Sylvia) Holmes of Summerville, SC,
Lori (Martin) Martinez of Miramar, FL,Jerry
(Lorrie) Hicks, Jr., of Knightsville, SC,
Mark Smith of Jedburg, SC, Deborah (Terry)
Malone of Greeneville, TN, Jennifer Hicks
and Terry Darrell (Crystal) Hicks, Jr. of
North Charleston,SC; 24 great-grandchildren,
three great-great-grandchildren;and numerous
nieces and nephews.

The family wished to express a special thank
you to the staff of Amedysis Hospice for
their loving care. And to the 3rd floor
nurses, CNA's, lab and housekeeping staff
at Takoma Regional Hospital, a big "thank
you" from "Grandmammy Doodle".

Visitation will be 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. Saturday,
March 8, 2014, at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral
Home with the funeral service to follow at
7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev.
Jeremy Carver, pastor of The Sanctuary,
will officiate. Following the service, the
body will be taken to Carolina Memorial
Gardens in North Charleston, SC where
visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Sunday.

A funeral service will be held there at 2 p.m.
Monday with Rev. Larry Phillips of Loganville,
GA officiating. Interment will follow in
Carolina Memorial Gardens, where she will be
interred beside her husband. Pallbearers will
be grandsons at both services. Kiser-Rose Hill

Funeral Home will be serving the family in
Greeneville, TN and Carolina Memorial Funeral
Home will serve the family in North Charleston,
SC.
