May and her twin brother, Max Mook, were very close, she was 5' and he was 6', quite a pair. She loved homemaking, especially gardening. I can still hear her singing old hymns while she worked at the wringer washing machine. She said she was run over by a tractor while carrying a baby. Another fond memory was of icey, cold winters in upstate New York where they would take sleigh rides out in the country. I still have her black fur muff. She was famous for her yummy cinnamon rolls and delicious macroni and cheese dinners.
Although born in Colorado Springs, she never spoke of it, returned to Buffalo, New York about the age of 3 years.
After her father died in 1901, she and her mother went to Yakima, Washington, to join brothers Max and David as well as sister Amie. There she met her husband, George W. Jeffrey. They moved to Port Angeles Washington after being married in 1911, and their only child, Maxine Virginia, was born there.
