Russell W. Willey
Age 91, of Wilmington, DE passed away on January 11, 2008.
He was a graduate of Bridgeville High School, Beacom College, the University of Delaware, and the University of Pennsylvania. Russell was an Army veteran of WW II attaining the rank of Captain. Russell retired in 1981 as Vice President / Comptroller for Beneficial Corporation in Wilmington, after 25 years service. He was a 30-year member of the former Harrison Street United Methodist Church, and currently a 30-year member of Peninsula-McCabe United Methodist Church, serving on numerous committees and singing in the choir. Russell was the author of "Foreign Exchange: The Accounting, Economics, and Control" published in 1977, and he enjoyed traveling the world.
His first wife, Hattie T. Willey died in 1982. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred McCormick, Kathleen Derby, and Ethel Trivits. Russell is survived by his wife, Rebecca A. Willey, brother, Norris E. Willey of Bel Air, MD; sister, Frances Dennis of Seaford, DE, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 18, at 11 am, at Peninsula-McCabe United Methodist Church, 2200 Baynard Blvd., Wilmington, DE 19802, where friends may call after 10 am. Interment will be in Riverview Gardens.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Peninsula-McCabe United Methodist Church; or the Rebecca Abel Willey Scholarship Fund, Goldey Beacom College, 4701 Limestone Road, Wilm., DE 19808.
