Martha Eudora "Mattie" Bass, daughter of William Esau Bass and Melinda Simral Odom, was born in Lawrence County, Mississippi, 18 Dec 1874, and died 16 Sep 1946.

Mattie Bass and William Henry Dyess were married 05 Jul 1889 Lawrence County, Mississippi. During the 1920's Mattie and William moved (1930 census record) to the vicinity of Fletcher Township, Mississippi County, Arkansas, and had a cotton farm.

According to Adimral Bass, "at the time of her death, were residing at Luxora, Arkansas, where Mr. Dyess engaged in farming."
