Donald W. Long, 83, of 999 W. Harrisburg Pike, Middletown, formerly of Carlisle, entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 13, 2008 in the Community General Osteopathic Hospital.
He was the son of the late, Bruce E. and Pearl Tritt Long.
Mr. Long was a retired Bank Teller with the Pa. Turnpike Commission, with over thirty years services. He was an active member of the Huntsdale Church of the Brethren, Carlisle Elks Lodge #578, Carlisle Fish & Game Association, life member of the Pa. Trappers Association, former member of the Boiling Springs and Mt. Holly Sportsmans Association.
Donald loved the outdoors and especially Bluegrass music. He was an avid trapper and hunter. He enjoyed the love he received from his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Donald is survived by his loving wife, Sara E. Bair Miller Long; two daughters, Susan E. Long of Duncannon, and Sharon L. Long of Camp Hill; four step-sons, James L. (Debra) Miller, David P. (Debra) Miller, and G. Edward (Wanda) Miller all of Middletown, John W. (Beckey) Miller of Mesquite, TX; two step-daughters, Mary (John) Blessing of Elizabethtown and Margaret (Andy) Doherty of Middletown; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A tribute to his life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 21, 2008 in the Huntsdale Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Jan Custer officiating. Burial will be in the Hillsdale Cemetery, Londonderry Township at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 23, 2008. Viewing will be from 9:00 AM- 11:00 AM Saturday at his church.
