Stephen Blackmore Thompson, III, 81, of Vienna, WV died August 26, 2004 at his residence. He was born April 3, 1923 in Spencer, WV a son of the late Ronald Eugene and Mabel Ivy Sinnett Thompson.

He was retired from Kauffman-Lattimer Company after being employed from June 1947- February 1982, where he was a pharmacist, general manager and Vice President. He was a US Navy veteran serving from April 14, 1943- November 2, 1945 in the Red Bird Squadron. He was a Parkersburg High School graduate Class of 1940, graduate of West Virginia University School of Pharmacy and member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He received the Pharmacy Bowl of Hygeia Award and Outstanding Pharmacy Alumni Award in 1985. He was a member of Rotary Club of Parkersburg were he served as President and later as District Governor Rotary 753 from 1970-1971. He was a large supporter of the Salvation Army serving as Chairman of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, Chairman of Fund Raising for a new building in 1955, Co-Chairman Fund Raising 1985. He also gave his service to the Boy Scouts Kootaga Area including serving as Chairman Fund Raising for New Office and Camp Improvements. He was also a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church since 1947.

He was a loving and devoted father of two daughters Beverly Morrison of Richmond, VA, Rebecca S. Roberts and husband Randall of Vienna; son Stephen Blackmore Thompson, IV of Fairmont; daughter-in-law Nancy Thompson of Vienna; eight grandchildren Mary Elizabeth Monroe, James Smith, Katherine Morrison, Sarah Beth Thompson, Thomas Thompson, Tiffany Thompson, Janine Roberts, Joshua Roberts; six great grandchildren and brother Tim Thompson of Beckley, WV.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth L. Thompson, son Frederick E. Thompson; grandson Jay David Roberts and brother Ronald E. Thompson, Jr.

Services will be Thursday 11:00 AM at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Reverend Paul M. Stadleman officiating.

Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery North.

VIsitation will be Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg and one hour prior to the service at the church.
