William Russell Denman Russell was born Sept. 4, 1928 in Wilson County, Texas and passed April 23, 2008 from a lengthy illness. He grew up in Nacogdoches, Texas and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State Teachers College in 1948. That same year he was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in San Antonio where he met Betty Looney. They married on April 28, 1950. Russell and Betty retired from Southwestern Bell in 1986 and have been residents of the Austin area since 1969. Russell is predeceased by his parents Charles C. and Irmgard B. Denman and a brother Charles C. Denman Jr. Russell is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Betty of Georgetown, TX; son, Alan of Austin; and brothers, Baker and wife Frankie of Nacogdoches, TX, James and wife Carolyn of Lufkin, TX, and Jerry and wife Deborah of Katy, TX; sister-in-law, Joy Denman of Washington, D.C.; and numerous nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas where a funeral service will also be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow at Cook- Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery. Russell`s family is very grateful for the excellent and loving care given to him by the staff of The Cottages at Chandler Creek in Round Rock and to the A-Med Hospice of Austin nurses. They also want to thank all of their friends from Celebration Church for their prayers, love, and support. In lieu of flowers, all memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 7th Fl., New York, New York 10001.
