Mr. McCoy passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2002 at his residence of cancer. He was born in Gilbert, LA on August 17, 1934. He has resided in the Shreveport area for the past 46 years. He is a retired switchman-brakeman for Union Pacific Railroad with 37 years of service. He was a member of U.T.U. and Summer Grove Baptist Church.
Mr. McCoy was preceded in death by his son, Damon McCoy and two brothers, Doc Jr. and Huey P. McCoy.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary McCoy of Stonewall; two daughters, Kim Evans and husband, Dave of Shreveport and Gale Tippett and husband, Andy of Keithville; a son, Bruce McCoy of Stonewall; three grandchildren, Ashley Evans, Tiffany and Jared Tippett; five sisters, Opal Kelsey, Pearl Langston, Ruby Browning, Jewel Templeton and Katherine Barber; a brother, John McCoy; two sisters-in-law, Iris and Grace McCoy; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be nephews Mike, Kenneth, Stephen and Eric McCoy and Randy and Heath Stuart. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Summer Grove Baptist Church.
