John W. Bruce, born August 23, 1919 in his parents loving home located in Dix, Illinois.

He left this world to be with Jehovah on May 30, 2008. He joins his parents and siblings who went before him, Rolla Walter Bruce (1886-1965), Charlie Mae Hilton (1888-1982), his Sister Mable and brothers Van, Raul, and Pud.

Waiting to join him in the future is his sister Cleva and the love of his life, Bernelda Bruce, whom he married in 1946. For 61 years of marriage they have been surrounded by multitudes of loving family and dear friends too numerous to mention in this short epistle.

Johnny spent his life in loving service to his Wife, family and friends, and was blessed in return with unconditional love from multiple generations of family.

Although they had no children of their own, Johnny raised Bernelda's younger brother Leon Threlkel, who will always be Johnny's "number one", and also helped raise several generations of nieces and nephews of which many call homewherever Johnny & Bernelda have lived.

Johnny met the love of his life Bernelda during WWII while working as a welding inspector at Aircraft Mechanics, and where Bernelda was a welder. It is often said he was inspecting more than her welding.

Johnny then worked for Gambles and Sears for over 25 years in the automotive departments, where he formed many friendships. Johnny is an inspiration to many to love more, forgive, and to always treasure family.

The viewing was held at Memorial Gardens Chapel located at 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs on Thursday June 5th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral services were held at the same location on Friday June 6th starting at 11 a.m.
