Lucas Arthur James Barfield, 20, of Versailles, died Friday, June 6, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born June 8, 1987 in Springfield, the son of Johnny and Pamela Gregory Barfield.

He is survived by his parents of Versailles; fianceé, Melanie Edwards of Roodhouse; one sister, Amanda (husband, Jamie) Mansfield of Arenzville; three brothers, Johnny, Jr. (wife, Kathleen) of Bourbonnais, Ethan and Nathan, both of Versailles; paternal grandparents, Cledus and Esther Barfield of Versailles, maternal grandfather, Jack and Sue Gregory of Panama, IL; and maternal grandmother, Susan and Irl Hicks of Meredosia.

Mr. Barfield was a 2005 graduate of Brown County High School and attended Illinois College. He was employed by Dot Foods in Mt. Sterling. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and mastering video games. He especially loved being with his family and friends.

Services were entrusted to Buchanan and Cody Funeral Home of Meredosia, Illinois.
