He was the son of Elvin LeRoy and Fannie (Mulcahy) Mudgett. His niece Katherine Ardyn Stanfield Fredericksen, his first cousin, once-removed, Edith Mulcahy Walden and his first cousin, twice removed, Zona Gayle Bedford Gilpin remember him. Ardyn, Gayle and Edith, long lost "cousins", found each other thanks to the internet in 2008. Reference to this infant was found in family history and his birth and death records were found in San Bernardino County archives. Historical documents by Lucy Lane, found by the park staff, located his grave and a new marker was added.
