Died Suddenly Friday of Heart Attack--Funeral Held Tuesday For Pearl Crowley
Pearl Crowley, age 48, died suddenly of a heart attack Friday, Sept. 22nd in the Ellsinore School cafeteria. He was stricken while eating, and was rushed to the Poplar Bluff Hospital, but was dead on arrival there.
Pearl was born near Ellsinore on June 20th, 1919, and was married to Miss Mavis Price in 1948. She survives him, with their three children, one daughter, Miss Janice, and one small son, John, at home and one son Jerry, with the Army in Vietnam. Jerry arrived home Sunday. Other survivors are his aged mother, Mrs. Mary Crowley and three brothers, Lawrence, Kirt and Clarion all at Ellsiore.
For many years, Pearl worked as a salesman in Poplar Bluff for Gambles and Montgomery Ward, but at the time of his death was employed by the Ellsinore School as a teachers' aide and a school bus driver.
He was a member of Harmony General Bapatist Church, a Mason, and President of the Carter County Singing Convention.
Funeral interment took place at the Harmony Church and cemetery Tuesday afternoon with the Greer-Croy-Fitch Funeral Home of Poplar Bluff in charge. More complete details will be given in next week's Current Local.--Ellsinore correspondent
