Lorene Ediger, 83, Rapid City, SD, died Sept 30, 2006, at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City. She was born Aug 12, 1923, to Pete and Stella Erie in Lake Preston, SD. Her parents, Pete and Stella Erie; two brothers, Donald Erie and Arthur Erie; and a sister, LaVonne Thomsen, preceded her in death. She graduated from Lake Preston High School in 1941 and she graduated from Methodist Hospital in Mitchell, SD, as a RN in 1944. She then worked as a Supervisor of the Pediatric Department in the Mitchell Hospital. Lorene married William Lubinus on Oct 29, 1944, and lived near Salem, SD, on a farm. Her husband, William Lubinus, died Dec 13,1980. They had two children, Richard and Sharon. Lorene married Wayne Ediger in 1982 and lived in Belle Plaine, MN, where she was very active in the Meals on Wheels program. She spent many winters in Tucson, AZ, where Wayne died on Dec 24, 1993. She had worked as the McCook County Public Health Nurse and retired after 23 years. Lorene was a member of Sun Prairie Baptist Church, rural Salem, and was a member of South Dakota Nurses Association. She was very active in community affairs. A memorial service was held in Belle Plaine, MN, on Wed, Oct 4, 2006; as well as a memorial service at the Sun Prairie Baptist Church, rural Salem, on Thurs, Oct 5, 2006, followed by interment in the church cemetery. Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home, Rapid City, SD, was in care of arrangements.
