On Feb. 6, 1868, he was married to Magdalena Good. To this union were born 9 children, one dying in infancy.
His companion passed to her reward April 30, 1919. He is survived by two sons, six daughters, one sister, 36 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He came to Kansas in 1872 and took up a claim near the town of Marion. He was one of the first eleven pioneer Mennonites in the State of Kansas.
