1935-2008

Howard Collin Curtis, 73, of La Grande, died June 9 at his home following a long illness. A celebration of life service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation and Life Celebration Center. A private burial will be at the Summerville Cemetery.

Howard was born June 2, l935, to Lorenzo Houghton and Mary Grace Casto Curtis at Salina, Utah. He served with the U.S. Armed Forces.

Before illness caused him to have to retire, he worked for the Imbler School District as a janitor.

Howard enjoyed drying all kinds of fruit and shared them with others. He also did "mini gardening" in pots on his patio.

He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by brothers, Auer Willard, Boyd Wallace, Morris Hugh, James Calvin, Nyles Rodney and Rodger Lee "Bill"; and sisters, Thora Almeda, Nelda Fern, Vivian Louise, Vera Maurine, Lila Novell and Rae Dawn.
