Mary Elizabeth Kitts Tompkins, 79
BEVERLY - Mary Elizabeth Kitts Tompkins, 79, of 723 Mitchell Ave., Beverly, Ohio, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
She was born July 14, 1927, in Charleston, W.Va., daughter of John and Ruth Richardson Akers. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Tompkins attended Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston, W.Va. She was a member of the Beverly United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 389, John Dodge Senior Citizens and the Lower Muskingum Historical Society.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Kitts and wife Charlotte of Beverly, Ohio, and John Kitts of McConnelsville; one daughter, Susie Denton of Beverly; nine grandchildren, Michael Tullius (Ellie), Mark Tullius (Robyn), Tammy Reed (Dean), Dawn Estes, Christy Denton, Shelly Kitts, Bud Denton (Beth), D.L. Kitts and Scott Kitts; and one brother, Grover Akers of Charleston, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Reeford Kitts and Robert Tompkins; and two brothers, John Akers and Thomas Akers.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at McCurdy Funeral Home and one hour before the services Wednesday at Beverly United Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at the church, Pastor Jeff Corbett officiating, with burial in Beverly Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Beverly United Methodist Church.
