Senator Boggs Dead
Senator John Boggs, representing the Eighth Senatorial District comprising of Lake, Glenn and Colusa counties, died Monday morning at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco.
Senator Boggs was one of the earliest settlers of Colusa county and when land was worth little in that county he managed to get hold of a large tract. As the land increased in value his wealth correspondingly increased until a few years ago his fortune was said to reach near a million.
Mr Boggs, politically, was a Democrat and he always took an active interest in politics even though it was but a town election. His home was at Princeton, a few miles above Colusa, on the Sacramento river.
Deceased was 61 years old and leaves besides a widow, three children - two sons Fred and Frank and a daughter, Miss Alice Boggs.
