Son of William and Keziah Murphy Bounds. Husband of Eliza Hurt Bounds. Served in the Mexican War. 11th Texas Cavalry Co. G, CSA. Shot in the back by an assassin while recruiting soldiers.

It appears J.M. Bounds and his wife Eliza died young and left children that were adopted by other family members (as far as I can tell).

Letters of guardianship given in County Court, November 1860 Kazie Bounds is this day appointed guardian of the person and property of Frances M., George W. and Malinda C. Bounds. Nov. 26 Kazie Bounds, W. J. and C. W. Bounds as surieties are held firmly bound unto the Chief Justice in sum of $1,000 of the children who are by law William Bounds' heirs. First filed Dec. 15, 1859.
In another document Ann S. Hurt got guardianship over the children of J. M. and Elisa Bounds, namely, Virginia, Joseph, and Maggie Bounds. Ann S. Hurt came to the Peters Colony in the 1840s, a widow with her children, and filed on a 640 acre headright. Later married a Bounds.
Estate papers for J. M. and Eliza Bounds filed June 18, 1875.
