Professional Football Player. For seven seasons (1956 to 1962), he played at the defensive end and linebacker positions in the National Football League (NFL) with the Detroit Lions, Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins. He was raised in California, where he attended C.K. McClatchy High School. He later played collegiate football at Sacramento City College, followed by the University of Pacific. Selected by the Detroit Lions during the 7th round of the 1956 NFL Draft, he totaled 87 career regular season games. He experienced a world championship with the 1957 NFL Title winning Detroit Lions, and in 1960, Cronin had the distinction of being on the Dallas Cowboys' roster during their inaugural season. Following his retirement as a player, he served as an NFL scout and later worked in the Atlanta Falcons' front office.
