Shawnee resident Patricia S. Bateman, 72, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at an Oklahoma City hospital.
She was born Sept. 15, 1935, in Wayne Okla, to Madge and William Swinford. She attended San Rafael High School, in California, and College at Texas Christian University (BS Nursing).
She married Roy A Knight Jr. of Garner Texas.
She was a R.N. in Fort Worth Texas, and Director of Central Oklahoma Development District Area Agency on Aging. She was a member of the Espical Church, Altar Guild Member, Society of Mary and the Vestry, AARP Chapter President, Democratic Party Delegate, President Democratic Women's Club, and Founded Democrats in Action.
Her Husband was a pilot killed in Vietnam, and she raised three children alone. She lived in Shawnee 25 years and ran for State Representative in 2004.
Survivors include oldest son, Roy A Knight III; daughter, Gayann Knight; youngest son, Bryan Knight; and brother, Gary Henderson.
Service were held 11 am Friday at Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Shawnee with the Rev. Clark Shackelford officiating. Burial was at the Church Columbarium.
