Kuwaiti Statesman. He served as the 7th Prime Minister of Kuwait from December 4, 2011 to November 19, 2019. He began his career as an advisor at the administrative affairs department in the Amiri Diwan, the royal court of the Emir of Kuwait, from 1968 to 1971. In 1971, he became director of the administrative affairs department and served until 1975. From 1975 to 1979, he served as an assistant undersecretary of administrative and financial affairs at the Diwan. He went on to become a governor, of both Hawally and Ahmedy, from 1979 to 1986, During the latter parts of the 1980s, he served as both the minister of social and labor affairs and minister of information. After the liberation of Kuwait in 1991, he became an advisor to the Emir of Kuwait, a post he held until 2001, when he became deputy prime minister and minister of defense. In 2006, he became the first deputy prime minister while still holding on to the post of minister of defense. In December of 2011, he became prime minister and served in this post until November of 2019, when he stepped down.
