Immed-iately upon graduation he entered the United States Army and served his country in Germany and Vietnam.
Michael moved to Fresno, California, in 1971, and fell in love with the Sierra Foothills. He purchased property in Coarsegold and built two houses almost single handedly, one being a geodesic dome design.
Michael was employed by Pacific Bell Telephone for 28 years as a Telephone Cable Splicer. After retiring from Pac Bell in 1996, he started a second career with Sierra Telephone in 1998, and was still employed with Sierra Tel at the time of his death.
Michael was a loving, kind, generous, thoughtful, extremely talented man who loved his family, friends, and job, traveling, and playing with his grandchildren. Forever in our Hearts.
Michael is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; sons, Keith and Brian Rowan; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Shad Gre-goire; brother and sister-in-law, William and Karen Rowan of Newark, Delaware; brother, Paul Rowan and his fiancé, Terry Viggiano of Long Beach, New Jersey; and five grandchildren, Taylor, Joshua, Mary, Felicity, and Serenity.
Visitation will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Thursday, June 12, 2008, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A Graveside Service will be held at Mt. View Cemetery on Friday, June 13, 2008, at 11:00 a.m.
