He married Mary Lois Martin on April 4, 1941 in South Bend, Texas where they owned and operated a service station for many years.



Services for Augustus Matthew "Gus" Choate, 55, were held at Salem Methodist Church. Mr. Choate moved to South Bend in 1938 from Ranger, Texas. He was a member of the South Bend Methodist Church.

Survived by his wife; his mother; four brothers - Gilbert, M.A., Wilburn and Lewis Choate; four sisters - Mrs. Vera Hawkins, Mrs. Ethel Copeland, Mrs. Pearl Harrison and Mrs. Elmo Young.
