Terry Bottom, 90, of 3rd Avenue, Ardmore, Alabama, died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at the Athens Convalescent Center in Athens, Alabama.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2003, at the Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Bottom, Rev. Sammy Brister, and Rev. Doris French officiating. Burial was in Hatchett Cemetery with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were grandsons and great-grandsons.
Mr. Bottom was born on January 30, 1913 in Lincoln County, Tennessee, to the late Thomas Benjamin Bottom and Mary Trudell Elliott Bottom.
He was a former police chief in Ardmore, Tennessee and Athens, Alabama. He was also a former Mayor of Ardmore, Alabama and was District 1 Commissioner in Limestone County. He also worked in his own grocery store.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Westella Buckner Bottom, his second wife, Cora Smith Gatlin Bottom, and his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Opie G. Bottom of Ardmore, Alabama; one daughter, Trudell Patterson of Franklin, Tennessee; three sons, Jackie Bottom of Blanche, Tennessee, Jerry Bottom of Decatur, Alabama, and Jeff Bottom of Ardmore, Alabama; two step-sons, Jimmy Bass of Longview, Texas, and Terry Bass of Minor Hill, Tennessee; one brother, Robert Bottom of Ontario, California; ten grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
