Deceased Name: Oriel Melvern Nelson MANTUA - Oriel Melvern Nelson, 73, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2004 at the Brigham City Community Hospital.
He was born on August 7, 1930 in Mantua, Utah a son of Oriel and Reta Nelson. Oriel married Deanne Hansen on August 18, 1950 in Bear River City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on December 17, 1963.
He was member of the Mantua 1st Ward.
Oriel was a Veteran of the Korean War.
He retired from the Defense Depot in Ogden where he was employed for 38 years.
Surviving are his children: Craig (ShirRae) Nelson, Mantua; Burke (Solveig) Nelson, Bear River City; Keith Nelson, Mantua; Darryl (Becky) Nelson, Mantua; Darla (Ken) Jones, Ogden; 11 grandchildren and one sister Oralee (Gayle) Stark, Burley, ID.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a sister Leaine Jensen.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Mantua Cemetery. With Military Honors accorded by the VFW Post # 1695.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at the Mortuary.
