Ray Andrew George Stillions was born to Louise M. Cully and George Herbert Stillions. He joined the U.S. Army on June 16, 1944 at Fort MacArthur in San Pedro, California. He served in "A" Company, 34th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division in the South Pacific during World War II. He attained the rank of Sergeant First Class after having served in three wars; WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He married Setsuko Kawato in Japan during the Korean war. Together they had three children.
