PAYSON — Samuel Fredrick Curtis, 68, prominent resident of Salem, died at the family home Tuesday night.
He was born in Salem, July 21, 1868, a son of Samuel B. and Lucinda Stewart Curtis. His grandfather, Lyman Curtis, was born in Salem, Massachusetts and brought the name, Salem, to Utah, giving it to the town which he pioneered.
Mr. Curtis married Eliza Ann Beddoes in the Salt Lake Temple August 15, 1897.
He is survived by his widow and one daughter, Lillian Curtis, Salem; his aged father, Samuel B. Curtis, 92 of Thatcher, Arizona; two brothers and one sister, J. J. Curtis, Las Vegas, Nevada; Ammon Curtis and Mrs. Berdie Gardner, Thatcher.
He has been an active L. D. S. church worker and held important church and civic positions during his lifelong residence in Salem. Funeral arrangements are being made by the Deseret Mortuary.
