Raymond Earl Dillon, 70, Klamath Falls, died January 22, 2001, of natural causes.

Mr. Dillon was born in the farmhouse at the old Walter's place near Caldwell, Idaho, where his parents, Ivan and Alma Dillon, made their livelihood farming. The eldest of five children, he was by age five adept at driving the family's International Harvestor F-20 tractor and helped with all aspects of crop cultivation, planting, and harvesting. He attended Enrose Grade School and played football at Caldwell High School, where he graduated in 1949. Mr. Dillon served as a baker in the Navy during the Korean War from 1949 to 1951 until a spinal cord injury led to his medical retirement at the age of 21. He married his childhood sweetheart, Barbara Heyer of Melba, Idaho, in 1953. In 1963, they moved to Klamath Falls, where he earned an associates degree in diesel technology from Oregon Technological Institue. Depsite physical limitations that had left him in a wheelchair since he was 21 years old, his passion for building led him to design and build numerous homes, RV's, livestock trailers and heavy equipment, such as rock crushers, from scratch. He maneuvered throughout his two shops freely and never let his handicap limit him. Mr. Dillon was a member of Crater Lake Lodge No. 211 and Hillah Temple of the Shrine.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Dillon of Klamath Falls; children, Alice and Darrell Lorenzen of Indianapolis, Ind., Gordon and Kim Dillon of Vancouver, Wash., and Margaret and Chris Doyle of Milwaukie, Ore.; sisters Velma Michel of Baker City, Mary Bryce of Nampa, Idaho, and Elizabeth Renfrow of Meridian, Idaho; grandchildren, Eldon and Jonathan Lorenzen and Dagney Doyle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Dillon.
