Beryl Gladys (Minert) Watts, 86 formerly of Chappel died Nov. 11 at the Memorial health Center Extended
Care in Sidney of complications following a stroke.

Beryl was born March 19, 1921, to Glenn and Rosa Alma (Simmons) Minert at Nelson. She attended the Nelson High School with the Class of 1939. Following graduation, she
worked as a telephone operator for the Nelson telephone system.

She married her high school sweetheart, Fay Watts,
on Nov.1,1941, in Baltimore, Md. To this union two children were born, Mary Ethel and Terry Faye.

The Watts family lived in several places in Nebraska. Fay and Beryl first owned an OK Rubber Welders Tire Shop including several restaurants in Fairfield, North Bend and Kearney and Holyoke, Colo. Retiring from the restaurant business in 1969, they moved to Omaha where Beryl worked for the Salavation Army, becoming the manage of the Benson Store. While living in Omaha, Fay and Beryl were members of a Christian Motorcycle Club.

They took trips on their motorcycle with son, Terry to Wisconsin, North Carolina, Washington and Oregon.

After her retirement from the Salvation Army and wishing to be nearer to their children; Fay and Beryl moved
to Chappell in 1987.

She was a member of the Four Square Women's Missionary Group, the Chappell Women's Wednesday morning prayer group and joined an extension club.

Following the death of her husband in 2004, Beryl moved to Sidney to be with her daughter. She became a resident of the extended care in 2006.

Beryl was a lifelong member of the church and Sunday School teacher for many years.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Bill Britton (Mary), Oshkosh; granddaughters, Christine Kafonek and
Cassandra Britton; great-granddaughter, Jacqueline Sartwell and great-great granddaughter, LaTisha Birchard all of Lincoln; sisters, Marvelin Fowler, Kearney and Florence Goodrich, Las Vegas, Nev.; brothers Roy Minert,
Brighton City, Utah; Harry Minert of Torrance, Calif., and Larry Minert, Denver.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,son, Terry, and brothers, Bernard and John Minert.

Services were held Nov. 14 at the Chappel Four Square Gospel Church with the Rev. Gary Wilson presiding.

Burial was in Davenport Cemetery at 10 a.m., Nov. 15.
