Doris L. Pickett, 84, of Danville, died at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2008, at her residence.

Born Aug. 16, 1923, the daughter of Edward and Georgia Green. She later married a wonderful man, George E. Pickett on March 12, 1949. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2001.

Doris is survived by two sons, David Pickett of Springfield, Mo., and Gary Pickett of Danville; and five daughters, Linda (David) Miller of Heyworth, Toni (Charles) Miller of Danville, Patti (Steve) Schulz of Bloomington, Jodi (Chuck) Zimmerman of Bloomington and Juli (Troy) McFadden of Catlin. Doris also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and one sister, Maralou Gross of Danville. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one infant son, Terry Joe, four brothers, one sister, and one daughter-in-law, Barbara Pickett.

Doris was a loving mother to her children and was a wonderful nanny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family meant everything to her. She will be sadly missed by all.
