Cheryl M. Childers, age 61, of Valparaiso, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Methodist Hospital, Southlake Campus after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Cheryl was a Valparaiso resident for 36 years and lifelong Northwest Indiana resident. She was employed at County Line Orchard and enjoyed crafts and festivals. Cheryl loved her family pets deeply. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Cledis, three children: Kim (Ken) Ausenbaugh of Hobart, Dawn (Donald) Price of Chesterton and Bob (Kim) Childers of Portage, three grandchildren: Madison Ausenbaugh, Paige Ausenbaugh and Lindsay Price, three sisters: Linda Simpson of Duncannon, PA, Debbie Lenz of Portage, Janet (Joe) Moravec of Macomb, MI, brother, Brad (Jackie) Hooper of Palacios, TX, many nieces and nephews, special friends, Mary Weimer, Karen Kirk and Diana Brayfield, all of Hobart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary (nee Hensley) Hooper. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 11, 2008 11:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage, with Pastor Cathy Allison officiating.
