He died at 5:03 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2005, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes.
A native of Ridgeville, S.C., he was born Nov. 24, 1931, the son of the late Trenholm and Minnie Lee Way Boykin. He was a supply sergeant for the U.S. Army.
He retired as Sgt. 1st Class and had served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a member of Crofton Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Boykin, Hopkinsville; three sons, Charles Boykin, Colorado Springs, Colo., Howard Boykin, Madison, Tenn., and Richard Boykin, Trenton, S.C.; two daughters, Diane Benjamins, Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Laura Pelletier, Crofton.; two brothers, Roy Boykin, Vance, S.C., and Palmer Boykin, Summerville, S.C.; two sisters, Myrtle Pennington, Williston, S.C., and Blondell Whiten, Holly Hill, S.C.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
