Ora was the seventh of eleven children born to Abraham "Abram" Robert Hodge and Agatha Carson. She married Arthur Albert Ellison in 1921 and they were the parents of two children. He preceded her in death in 1931. Her second marriage was to William Henry Sayer in 1932. They were the parents of five children.
