Duane Lee Garber, 81, of Burnsville, died peacefully May 25, 2008.

Duane was a father, farmer, auto mechanic, cowboy, missionary, student, teacher, principal, mentor, carpenter, Mensa member, poet, author, world traveler, road warrior, mason, soldier, volunteer, dreamer and philosopher. He left a legacy of books and thoughts to ponder. He enjoyed life and people. Duane would say to all: "Peace."

He was preceded in death by wife, Carol, and daughter, Julie.

He is survived by daughter, Linda (Tom); sons, Al (Kim Hewson), Ned (Janel) and Bruce (Carla): six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and sisters, Rebecca, Roma, Frances, Willa, and Christina.

A service to celebrate his life will be held Tuesday, June 24, at First Presbyterian Church, 306 Norway Drive, Foley, Minn. Visitation will be at 10 a.m.; memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Memorials preferred to Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
