#2 Mr. Kennedy, retired food broker, dies
Thomas S. Kennedy Jr. was like a ray of sunshine and gave what he had to those who had nothing, friends and family members recalled Tuesday.

Mr. Kennedy died Monday afternoon at West Florida Reginal Medical Center. He was 63.

Mr. Kennedy's son, Thomas, 39, said he remembers how his father gave away his candy after a Fiesta of Five Flags parade 30 years ago.

"My dad asked this guy if his children got to come to the parade, and the man said he had to work, " Thomas said. "So, my dad grabbed my bag of candy and handed it to the guy."

A native and lifelong resident of Pensacola, Mr. Kennedy was a retired food broker and co-owned the Seaside Shop on Pensacola Beach.

Mr. Kennedy was involved with the United Way, the March of Dimes, the American Cancer Society and other civic organizations. He also was a past president of the Pensacola Jaycees.

Circuit Court Clerk Ernie Magaha, who said he had known Mr. Kennedy for about 44 years, said he was like a "ray of sunshine." "He had a charisma about him," he said.

Joe Crona, who knew Mr. Kennedy for about 50 years, said, "There are just so many fond memories with football and the days at the YMCA. He was probably one of the highest quality people I ever knew."

Mr. Kennedy also is survived by his mother, Frankie J. Kennedy of Pensacola and his wife, Nell Morris Kennedy.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church with the Rev. David Bell officiating. Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
